Animal physiotherapists must work with veterinary consent via a referral system to ensure the animal’s treatment is safe, appropriate, and aligned with its medical diagnosis.
Vets are responsible for the overall healthcare of the animal and possess the clinical authority to assess underlying conditions. By obtaining a referral, physiotherapists can access relevant medical information, collaborate effectively with the veterinary team, and tailor therapy plans that support recovery as part of a multidisciplinary team. This approach also ensures compliance with legal and professional regulations while safeguarding animal welfare.
If your animal is currently receiving veterinary treatment for an existing condition then your vet will need to sign the following form before our first physiotherapy consultation:
